TWO SECOND-HALF GOALS KILL OFF SPIRITED REDS
TWO second-half goals from Kris Gate killed off a spirited Alfreton Town who can think themselves unlucky not to have gained any points reward at joint top-of-the-table Gateshead.

The Reds kept the division's top scorer Jon Shaw off the scoresheet for the first time this season but were eventually undone by a brace of goals on the hour and 81 minutes, the second after Jamie Mullan's powerful strike had hit a post.
Alfreton were without striker Paul Clayton who picked up a groin strain in training on Thursday to join the injury ranks of Anthony Wilson, Nathan Arnold and Josh Law. Transfer window deadline signings Andy Holdsworth and Steve Brogan both made their debuts as second-half-substitutes.
After two successive away games, the Reds return to the Impact Arena on Saturday, September 10 when fellow league new boys Braintree Town are the visitors. Kick-off is 3pm.
