GALINSKI RELIEF AS SEASON STARTS
Tuesday Aug 11, 2015
Alfreton Town defender Stefan Galinski says he is relieved the 2015/16 season has finally got under way.
“After all the training and preparation it is great to get the season up and running. It has been a long, drawn out summer for me. It has been quite stressful at times not having a club until Alfreton came in for me. It is a great relief and a great joy to be a part of it” said Stefan.
Despite living in Lincoln, the former Derby County player says the one-hour trip to the Reds is a joy compared to some of the travelling he has had to undertake over the past couple of seasons.
“Alfreton is only an hour away and the set-up is fantastic, the ground is great and from what I am hearing from lots of people, Nicky Law is a good gaffer to be working under which is what I need at my age.
“I came on trial a couple of years ago after being released by Derby and Nicky and Russ – who has been brilliant – told me to go away and learn my trade a bit more. I have done that and am delighted to be at a good club with some great people in it” added Stefan.
“The aim now is to establish myself in the starting eleven and I also aim to chip in with a few goals throughout the season and cement myself as a strong character in the team which I feel will help me push on towards next season if the chance arises.”
The former Polish youth international knows the National League North level well having played with Corby, Boston United and Stalybridge Celtic but he feels Alfreton have a good chance of doing well this season.
“With it being such a tough league and inconsistent league, I feel the team will need a high level of consistent performances so when we go away or teams come to us, they will know they have been in a game.
“Top five is not unrealistic and yet realistic at the same time” ended Galinski.
