FOOTBALL CONFERENCE CHARITABLE DONATIONS
Tuesday Jul 23, 2013
As part of the Football Conference efforts to ensure charitable organisations benefit from endeavours by individuals or groups from within the membership, they are pleased to say that their efforts during the past season has enabled them to support the following. In so doing the Board of the Football Conference wish to pay tribute to all those who have made these donations possible.
£1000 has been donated to the Level Playing Field Association, who do so much good work for disabled supporters throughout the game.
Five individual walkers tramped the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal receiving from sponsors a very creditable £1145. Added to that sum, donations from functions at the AGM from member clubs generously raised a further £3400. This allowed a total of £4545 to be presented to the MND Association to support the sterling efforts of Mark Maddox, who suffers from motor neurone disease and was a player with Conference North club Altrincham.
In addition, the Board of Directors have made an award of £250 to help with the launch of the Georgia Williams Appeal Fund. Georgia was a member of the match day staff of AFC Telford United and sadly met an untimely death. We all wish Telford great success with their Conwy Challenge marathon walk which is currently taking place to swell the fund.
Chairman of the Board, Brian Lee stated "It is right we as a competition remember we are in a privileged position and individually and collectively we have responded once again to help those in need. May we wish all three organisations the very best with their aims and objectives"..
