Alfreton Town travel to take on fifteenth-placed FC United of Manchester in the National League North on Saturday.

Following two postponed games, it will be a first outing of any sorts in twelve days for the Reds who will be making two pieces of history as they take on FC United for the first time ever and also visiting their brand new Broadhurst Park set-up for the first time as well.

The hosts will be eager to bounce back from a 5-1 thrashing at AFC Telford United on Tuesday night, a result which lifted the Shropshire club off of the bottom of the table and gives them real hope in their fight to retain their league status.

FC United go into the game in fifteenth place in the table with 32 points from 27 games, five points behind Alfreton's total but with a game in hand.

United are just six points above the relegation zone but would appear to have enough fire power to pull themselves away from trouble as 6-1 an 4-3 home wins from their last two outings on home turf would suggest.

A tough test awaits Alfreton as FC United are unbeaten in their last four league games at home, winning the last three in a row and the hosts will be buoyed by huge home support which they have enjoyed in each game so far at their new home.

However, Nicky Law's side will travel in confidence on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions including five wins and two draws in the league.

Alfreton have also won four of their last five away games including three successive victories in the last three away trips.

With the exception of long-term injury victim Brad McGowan, manager Law has the luxury of a full strength squad for a game in which a Reds victory could see them climb into the top eight. A win for FC United could see them widen the gap on the bottom three and go as high as thirteenth pending other results on the day.

Supporters' Association official transport to the FC United game departs at 9.45am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
