REDS BOSS WANTS A PASSIONATE ATMOSPHERE
NICKY Law says Alfreton Town supporters can play a big part in trying to help his side pull off an FA Cup shock and overcome Carlisle United on Saturday.
Despite a season of more downs than ups, the vocal backing from the fans has been excellent, particularly in recent weeks and Law is mindful that their input will add to what is going to be a terrific day.
"In the past when we have gone to certain places where it is intimidating, it makes our job that much harder" said Law.
"We are going to need all the help we can get and hopefully the fans can try and recreate that sort of atmosphere on Saturday."
Law admits times have been tough for the fans who have been used to success in recent years but he insists that if everything is right on the day, Alfreton have a chance.
"It is difficult when you are coming to support a team that is not doing as well as you would like, but we have said all along it was going to be a tough season and it is proving that.
"For too long this season, we have had too many players either injured or suspended and unavailable for one reason or another and for that reason it is difficult to get going.
"We have had Carlisle watched and they are a good footballing side who play football the right way. They are doing well in their league and it is a massive test for us.
"But I think league positions and form all goes out of the window to a certain extent in a one-off cup tie, although we are going to have to play better than of late, that's for sure.
"It is all about us going out and imposing ourselves and hoping as many of our players as possible raise themselves. If not, the end result is inevitable, and if we are going out there to worry about Carlisle and stop them, it is going to be a long day.
"You have to be mindful of your opposition, but it is all about what we do, we can't affect what they do.
"We have got it in us. There will be an upset come Saturday night, let's hope it is our game.
"I still say the same though, if we have got our best 11 on the pitch and they all perform to the best of their ability then we have a chance."
