MANAGER LAW WANTS TO MAKE IMPACT ARENA A TOUGH PLACE TO VISIT
ALFRETON Town embark on a historic season on Saturday when they play their first ever Conference national division fixture.
The Reds are away at Hayes & Yeading United and look set to have a good following of supporters backing them.
Everyone at the club will be willing the side on throughout what promises to be a memorable season as the team lock horns with some very big former Football League sides.
And manager Nicky Law is urging the town and local community to get firmly behind the Reds, particularly in home games, where he feels they can make a big difference and be the team's 12th man.
He said: "We know it is going to be a tough and testing season in each and every game and we are going to need every bit of help we can get if we are to succeed in this division, especially from our own fans.
"I hope our fans can emulate the vocal support they have shown since we came to this club, and especially over the last two seasons which has been incredible.
"We need to make the Impact Arena an imposing place for visiting teams to come.
"Our fans can help and lift the team in a big way and the players really do appreciate getting plenty of vocal backing."
"We have got to make Alfreton a place where people are not relishing their visit, and that is where our fans can play a vital part this season, as they did last, if I am honest.
"We are a nice club with a nice set-up and a very nice pitch, but we need our fans to be really vocal and make it not such an attractive place to come."
Following the opening game against Hayes, the Reds have their first home games in non league's top flight with Southport visiting next Tuesday (Aug 16, 7.45pm) and Forest Green Rovers at the Impact Arena on Saturday, August 20.
