FORMER PLYMOUTH ARGYLE DEFENDER JOINS REDS

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has brought in former Cheltenham Town right-sided defender Durrell Berry on non contract terms with a view to earning a contract if he impresses.

Derby-born Berry, 23, was a free agent after being released by Cheltenham Town.

He began his career at Notts County's Centre of Excellence and had trials with Derby County and Nottingham Forest before progressing through Aston Villa's Academy whereh e appeared in both legs of the 2010 FA Youth Cup Final against Chelsea before signing his first professional contract in 2010.

He played regularly with Villa's Reserve side but was released at the end of the 2010/11 season and moved on to Plymouth Argyle between 2011 and 2014 where he made 95 Football League appearances scoring once.

Durrell had a short spell with Torquay United in 2014/15, making twelve appearances then making thirteen appearances for Cheltenham Town.

Meanwhile, Alfreton Town defender Jason Paling has joined Matlock Town on a month's loan. The move is part of Paling's development with the Reds and will earn him valuable pitch minutes.
