DARTFORD v ALFRETON TOWN

DARTFORD v ALFRETON TOWN

Friday Aug 9, 2013

SATURDAY, AUGUST 10th, 2013, 3pm

Here we go again . . . football is most definitely back this weekend, and the curtain raiser for the 2013/14 Skrill Premier season takes Alfreton Town to Dartford on Saturday.

Reds manager Nicky Law has no suspension or injury worries although it remains to be seen if Michael Wylde has recovered enough from an Achilles injury to be considered for a start.

If last season's games between the sides are anything to go by there will be goals with a total of eleven scored in the two games in the league!

With nine new signings in his new-look squad, Law will certainly be looking for better things than last season's 5-1 drubbing at Princes Park in deepest Kent on September 1st, 2012. Danny Meadows got the sole Reds reply on 80 minutes, the attendance was 1,145.
Meadows was also on the scoresheet in the return game on January 5th at the Impact Arena as he struck an 89th minute winner for the Reds who edged home 3-2. Ryan Hayes had fired the visitors in front after just three minutes but Alfreton were level by the break when Meadows netted in the second minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half.
The Darts regained the lead through Nathan Collier on 59 minutes and with 15 minutes left, a league double looked on the cards but Anton Brown equalised on 75 before Meadows fired home a superb 16 yard strike into the top corner.
