CHRIS SENIOR ADMITS LAW'S PERSISTENCE PERSUADED HIM TO JOIN

Wednesday Jun 22, 2011

ALFRETON Town's new striker Chris Senior has admitted it was the efforts of Reds boss Nicky Law which saw him arrive at the Impact Arena last Thursday.
Along with ex Ilkeston Town and Blyth Spartans goalkeeper Dan Lowson, 23, former Darlington and Altrincham player Senior, 29, joined Alfreton last Thursday and he expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign ahead.
He said: "After I got released from Darlington at the back end of last season, I spoke to a couple of managers and Nicky [Law] had been on the phone to me a few times, even when I was on holiday!
"It is good to feel so wanted by a manager, and then obviously when you look at the progress the club has made, being on the verge of the Conference for the past couple of seasons and then the way they waltzed off with the title last season, it is obviously a club going in the right direction and I want to be part of that.
"There are some good players here and I don't think we will struggle."
Senior also looked ahead to renewing rivalries with Mansfield Town who have now become local derby neighbours for Alfreton.
He added: "I ended on a good thing at Darlington, my last touch of a football for that club was the winning goal [at Wembley in a FA Trophy final victory over Mansfield Town] against what is now a local rival for us next season.
"When I was driving down here to join the club, I saw the signs west for Mansfield and east for Alfreton and I am looking forward to those derbies already. I will probably get a bit of stick, but I will enjoy that!
"I know Greg Young has already signed here [at Alfreton] and he is a very good mate of mine, in fact he was at my wedding. I am looking forward to getting started here and hopefully getting amongst the goals."

Pre-season admission prices
Alfreton have announced admission prices of £8 adults and £5 concessions for their pre-season home games.

Deadline approaching
Supporters are urged to note that the discounted season ticket deadline of June 30 is fast approaching. Tickets are available by contacting Lisa Towerzey on 01159 392090 extension 107. The prices are listed on the club's website.
