CHESTER v ALFRETON TOWN PREVIEW
Thursday Mar 13, 2014
SATURDAY, MARCH 15th, 3pm
by Matt Carter
Alfreton Town will be looking to make it crucial back to back wins as they visit Chester in their latest Skrill Premier Division clash on Saturday.
The home side although still in relegation trouble have seen their results pick up of late, prior to Tuesday night’s disappointing defeat at Aldershot they had gone five unbeaten – a run which included three victories.
In Alfreton’s favour is that despite the resurgence Chester’s home form remains somewhat of an achilles heel with just three wins on their own patch.
The Reds will also be seeking revenge, given that Chester were able to inflict a rare home defeat - the first of the season at the Impact Arena - on Nicky Law’s side way back in October although Alfreton were stretched by injuries at that time of the campaign.
On Tuesday night Alfreton ruthlessly consigned Hyde to relegation to bounce back from conceding a stoppage time equaliser against Lincoln last Saturday.
Chester, fighting for their lives are likely to present a far sterner but the Reds are in good form and will be hopeful of another victory.
With the season now into its final quarter Alfreton are inching closer to what would be a remarkable finishing position in the top six – three points on Saturday would go some way to cementing that position.
John McGrath remains only the sidelines and manager Nicky Law will need a late fitness check on Connor Franklin (ankle).
