CAN YOU HELP ZACH RAISE FUNDS?
Monday Jul 21, 2014
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law's son Zach will be pushing his body to the limits on Sunday to try and raise funds for a local charity.
Zach, 28, (right) is taking part in his first ever Triathlon to try and raise monies for the Ashgate Hospice.
The event, The Outlaw Triathlon 2014, is being staged around the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham, and involves a gruelling 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride and finally a 26.2-mile marathon.
"My friends and family think I am mad" said Zach. "But I am I am taking on this huge challenge looking to raise money for a charity in my local community called Ashgate Hospice.
"All costs of doing the event are covered by me so 100 per cent of the donations go to Ashgate. Any sponsorship of any amount would be greatly appreciated by Ashgate Hospice and the patients they are caring for. Ashgate Hospice does an amazing job making life as comfortable as possible for people in palliative care".
Zach has set himself a target of trying to raise £1000 for the Hospice and anyone who would like to donate can do so online on the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/Zach-Law
Zach added: "I have never done a triathlon but have always had a real appreciation for distance athletes in whatever discipline be it running, swimming, cycling etc. The mental strength they have is incredible and I wanted to see if i could push myself to those limits, so my first and last triathlon will be the iron distance!
"It has involved six months of training and the last month has involved 20 hours a week training on top of a full time job so as you can imagine it is very time consuming and the hardest I have ever had to train by a long way (and I have numerous pre-seasons under my dad, they were like a warm up in comparison)!" ended Zach.
