by James Aspinall and Kev Miles

Alfreton Town are back in Vanarama National League North action on Saturday when they head south to Northamptonshire to take on Brackley Town.

It is league match day number 25 for Nicky Law's men and the Reds boss will be looking for his side to build on their fine festive form which resulted in seven points from a possible nine, after beating Tamworth twice and being held to a 2-2 home draw by league leaders Solihull Moors.

This weekend, Alfreton travel to third from bottom Brackley, who are without a win in five games and have won just two of their last eight going into this weekend's fixture.

The hosts have only taken two points out of their last fifteen on offer and their most recent result was a 3-0 defeat away at league leaders Solihull.

A fourth win on the road for the Reds could lift them into the top ten in the table depending on results elsewhere whilst Brackley could climb out of the relegation places with a victory so there is much at stake for both sides.

One word of caution is that Brackley have racked up 17 of their 22 points so far on home soil with one of their five away points coming from a 1-1 draw at the Impact Arena way back on Saturday, August 15th when the visitors had a 69th minute Sam Smith goal to thank for their point after the Reds had been given the lead courtesy of a 38th minute Ryan Austin own goal in front of 612.
