Boston United v Alfreton Town

Boston United v Alfreton Town

Monday Aug 7, 2017

The Reds head for Boston United's York Street ground for their first away game in the Vanarama National League North, tomorrow (Tuesday) Kick-off 7-45 pm.

They will be looking to build on Saturday's excellent 2-0 opening day victory over Blyth Spartans at the Impact Arena.

York Street is not a happy hunting ground for the Reds as we haven't won there for 57 years. Last season saw a narrow 3-2 defeat after Alfreton twice took the lead with goals from Craig Westcarr and Ryan Wilson. The Pilgrims levelled through a controversial penalty and then scored a 93rd minute winner through Gregg Smith.

We gained revenge at home with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a  well taken goal from Liam Hearn on 41 minutes.

The Pilgrims began the new season with a surprising 4-0 defeat at Southport last Saturday. Boston finished the game with ten men having Gregg Smith sent off when they were already 3-0 down.

Boston are managed by former Stag, Adam Murray with his assistant being former Red, Karl Hawley

The Boston United line-up was : Willis, Hare, Cowgill, Keane, Blatson, Chapman, McGuire, Clifton, Vince, Hemmings, Hawley.

Subs : Warren, Smith, Waite, Broadhead, Tshimanga
