Blyth Spartans v Alfreton Town

Blyth Spartans v Alfreton Town

Monday Jan 22, 2018

This Tuesday the Reds visit the North East for the re-arranged game with Blyth Spartans in the Vanarama National League North kick-off 7.45pm.

The new management team will be looking to build on their excellent start after the 4-1 win over Leamington at the Impact Arena on Saturday. The performance showed passion, grit, desire, confidence and Chris Moyses will look to build on Saturday's result and performance with a difficult trip to the Spartans.

The win was the Reds first home win since September 9th and extended Alfreton's unbeaten run to four games in all competitions and three in the league, following the 1-1 draw with Darlington and the 3-0 success at North Ferriby.

We will also be looking to do the double over the Spartans having recorded a 2-0 win over them at the Impact Arena on the opening day of the season, where our scorers were Luke Shiels and Andre Johnson.

Blyth currently lie in 6th place in the table with 43 points from 25 games, four points inside the play-off places. Last Saturday saw them draw 1-1 at Croft Park with FC United of Manchester. Sean Reid opened the scoring for Spartans after 56 minutes, with Tom Greaves levelling for United on 69 minutes. The 1-1 draw was the first draw for Blyth this season.

The Spartans have won just once in their last five games in all competitions and won just twice in their last six league games. Our hosts home form has dipped slightly in recent encounters with Blyth winning just once in their last four league outings at Croft Park.

The Spartans team last Saturday was: Jameson, Atkinson, Buddle, Hutchinson, Liddle, Mullen, Reid, Rivers, Hopson, Dale, Rutherford

Subs: Maguire, MacDonald, I Watson, Wrightson, Laidler

Admission to the game: Adults £12 Concessions £6 (admission to the Port of Blyth Stand for seating costs an extra £2)

Matchday Programme: £2

A reminder that the Supporter's Association travel leaves the Impact Arena at 3.15 pm.
