Blue Square Bet Premier & FA Trophy - Live Match & Midweek Betting Preview - by Alan Alger from Blue Square

Odds-on backers were given plenty of scares on Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier coupon, including those who backed York City to beat Stockport County.
The Minstermen were as short as 1/2 to see off Jim Gannon's team but required goals from Jamie Reed and Matthew Blinkhorn to turnaround a 1-0 deficit in the final ten minutes. Gary Mills' side are now unbeaten in their last seven league games their most recent defeat coming in front of the Premier Sports cameras at home to Kidderminster.
The cameras are in attendance at Bootham Crescent again for the fixture against fellow play-off contenders Gateshead on Wednesday night. York are also odds-on again.
Priced at 8/11 to beat Ian Bogie's visitors who were defeated by on-loan York player Liam Henderson's goal at Forest Green on Saturday. Gateshead are 100/30 outsiders to win the game but have a poor record when playing away to sides in the top six in the table - just one win from four matches.
Despite that record The Heed have eight wins on the road compared to six at home. Their away record alone would put them seventh in the table, one place above where they start this midweek round of fixtures. Bogie bemoaned the absence of leading scorer Jon Shaw for the trip to The New Lawn saying that it proved the difference between the two sides.
Shaw will be back for this clash and is priced at 11/2 to score the first goal of the game.
The draw is priced at 12/5 and a correct score of 2-2 could make plenty of appeal at 12/1. York home matches have produced that scoreline three times already in just 16 matches - pitching the real price nearer 6/1. The fact we can get double those odds suggests we are getting value.

The top three in the table all won on Saturday and they are amongst 14 teams involved in seven Blue Square Bet Premier fixtures on Tuesday night.
Leaders Fleetwood Town are offered at a best price of 4/11 for a home game with Ebbsfleet United. Liam Daish's side must cope with travelling up to Lancashire on the day and that tempers enthusiasm on them causing a shock. The Cod Army have looked fragile in defence on occasions this season and odds-on backers still might have to work for their money. If the Fleet can earn at least a point after a journey of nearly 300 miles it will be some achievement.
Wrexham are the 5/4 favourites to keep up the pressure on Micky Mellon's men with a win away at Kidderminster Harriers. It's a difficult fixture for the Red Dragons but Kidderminster's recent record of just two wins in seven suggests this might be the right time to visit Aggborough.
Luton Town are doing their best to keep up a three-way title race and they are offered at Evens to win at Barrow. Avoiding defeat at Holker Street would extend the Hatters' unbeaten league run to 14 matches. Unusually, for one of the bigger teams in the division, Luton have a good record at Barrow winning on both visits in the last two seasons - both by a 1-0 scoreline.

Elsewhere Bath City host Hayes & Yeading United in a battle of the bottom two clubs, home advantage dictating that Adie Britton's side should be the Evens favourites.
Newport County will be looking to close the gap on Tamworth who sit one place and five points away in 15th ahead of their game at The Lamb tonight.
Tamworth are the 7/5 favourites to keep County hovering above the relegation zone with a home win.
Forest Green will be odds-on to win away at Kettering Town whilst Mansfield will also be a very short price for their home game with Darlington. There are two FA Trophy ties on Tuesday night. Blue Square Bet North Guiseley travel to Cambridge United where they are value outsiders at 4/1. Dartford from the Blue Square Bet South visit Wealdstone in a replay in the other game, the Kent side hoping to justify odds of 4/5 after drawing with their opponents at home last week.
