Alfreton stopped the run of six consecutive defeats in the Vanarama National League North and also gained a vital point that guaranteed football at the same level next season.

The Reds started brightly with Wes Atkinson putting through Adam Priestley who was denied by a fantastic save from the home keeper, Tim Deasy.. The hosts grew into the game with Spiess making a good save from Alty's Nicky Clee.

Niall Heaton missed a point blank header before Alfreton took the lead after 40 minutes when Craig Westcarr skillfully chipped for Andy Monkhouse to head home.

Alty were much inproved after the break and drew lwvel on 55 minutes when a Shaun Densmore cross from the left was fumbled by Fabian Spiess after a challenge from Micah Evans and the ball spilled over the line. Later on Densmore went close with a header and Evans missed a good opportunity firing over the bar fter a scramble in the box , but the Reds battled on to secure the point which ensures safety and removes pressure from the final game of the season at the Impact Areans next Saturday wheh Nuneaton Town are the visitors.
