ALLEGED RACIST COMMENTS AT KIDDERMINSTER MATCH

ALLEGED RACIST COMMENTS AT KIDDERMINSTER MATCH

Thursday Feb 28, 2013

Health and safety director John Glasby has issued the following statement on behalf of Alfreton Town Football Club:

"We would ask all Supporters to refrain from commenting on the alleged racist issue at the recent match against Kidderminster.

"The individual involved has admitted the offence and the matter is now in the hands of Derbyshire Police. To be fair to all parties involved we do not wish to prejudice any actions which may have to be taken.

"The club is having to reply to The Football Association which we are at present doing, and to apologise to both Kidderminster Harriers and the player involved.

"Please do not exacerbate what is a difficult situation for the club by any speculation which could cause us further difficulties or further problems for the individual involved.

"We would point out that the club is having to deal with a very sensitive situation and ask for your understanding.

"All of our supporters are reminded that in the present day, any behavioural problems reflect badly on the club and we can be subjected to disciplinary action from the authorities. It also takes up much of our time in having to react to such incidents, time which would be better spent elsewhere."
