ALFRETON TOWN v WREXHAM PREVIEW
Monday Jan 7, 2013
TUESDAY, JANUARY 8th, 7.45pm
Alfreton Town are next in action on Tuesday night when title-chasing Wrexham are the visitors to the Impact Arena for a Blue Square Bet Premier Division fixture (7.45pm).
Reds manager Nicky Law has no new injury worries or suspensions to contend with and is without the services of just club captain Darran Kempson who misses the game against one of his former clubs with a hamstring injury.
Law will be buoyed by the spirit the side showed in twice coming from behind to beat Dartford 3-2 at the Impact Arena last Saturday and the Red boss also has the boost of on-loan midfield man Matty Harriott extending his loan period for a further month.
This is a first meeting in the league this season between the sides although Alfreton came from behind to record a fine 4-2 win at Wrexham in the FA Cup first round on November 3, thanks to goals from Paul Clayton, Dan Bradley and a late brace from Ben Tomlinson.
Andy Morrell's Wrexham side arrive in second place in the table, just a point behind league leaders Grimsby Town are are the 6/5 on favourites with SkyBet to win tonight, the Reds are 11/4 and it is 13/5 the draw.
The Red Dragons have lost just once in their last six league outings and are unbeaten in their last four with two wins and two draws, the last of which was at title rivals Newport County in a 1-1 draw last Friday night.
Wrexham's away record this season is the second best in the division [behind Forest Green Rovers] in terms of points gained.
They have won six, drawn four and lost three of their 13 games on the road so far.
Wins have been recorded at Tamworth (1-0), Cambridge United (4-1), Stockport County (3-2), Southport (4-1), Braintree Town (5-1) and AFC Telford United (2-0). The points have been shared at Ebbsfleet United (1-1), Luton Town (0-0), Nuneaton Town (0-0) and Newport County (1-1). Defeats have been tasted at Macclesfield Town (0-2),Kidderminster Harriers (0-2) and Grimsby Town (0-1).
Swansea City defender Daniel Alfei is staying at Wrexham for an extra 18 days after extending his loan deal whilst midfield man Kevin Thornton could make his debut for Wrexham tonight after receiving his international clearance from the FAW too late for last Friday night's game at Newport County.
Top scorer for Wrexham this season is Danny Wright who has hit 11 goals, ten of them in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action. Next highest is Adrian Cieslewicz with six, all of which have come in the league.
There is segregation in place for the Wrexham fixture and visiting fans are requested to enter the stadium via the away turnstiles at the Alma Street end of the Impact Arena only.
