ALFRETON TOWN v WOKING PREVIEW
Saturday Aug 9, 2014
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9th, 3pm
Alfreton Town kick-off the brand new 2014/15 Vanarama Conference season with an attractive-looking home game against Woking at the Impact Arena on Saturday.
Both sides will be keen to get the new campaign off to a successful start and obviously much will depend upon how quickly the new faces in both camps settle to the task.
Reds manager Nicky Law will be buoyed by latest signing, striker Massiah McDonald joining the club a day before the opening game, but will require a late fitness check on defender Duane Courtney who suffered an ankle injury in the pre-season game against Rotherham United.
Aside from that, Law - who has made twelve very impressive signings this summer - will have a fully fit squad to choose from with options in almost every position.
It will perhaps be more important for Alfreton to get off to a winning start with a brace of very tough away games following at Kidderminster on Tuesday and Forest Green Rovers next Saturday, and as usual, the fans can play a big part with some loud and proud backing.
Woking have two successive home games to look forward to after the opener.
Cards manager Garry Hill will be without the influential Kevin Betsy who is out for up to twelve weeks after an operation on an injured knee and they will also be missing captain Mark Ricketts who is serving a suspension carried over from last season.
Honours finished even last season with Alfreton recording a 3-1 home win over Woking on September 7th thanks to a brace of goals from Tom Shaw and a fine late strike from Danny Meadows. Gavin Williams had equalised from the penalty spot for the Cards.
The return game in Surrey on April 12th saw the Reds take the lead through Job Ayo Akinde on 20 minutes. The advantage was held until ten minutes from time when Joey Jones headed home a free kick and five minutes later Jack Marriott crashed home the winner in a 2-1 success for the hosts.
There is no segregation in place for this fixture but Woking fans are kindly requested to enter the stadium via the Alma Street turnstiles. Catering and toilet facilities as well as match day programmes are available at both ends of the ground.
Ordinary admission at the turnstile on the day of the game is £18 for adults and £12 for concessions (over-65s). Under-16s is just £2 per child so long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.
Alternatively, Early Bird Match Tickets and Group Saver Match Tickets both offer discounted admission if ordered prior to the match. Early Bird Match Tickets for adults and senior concessions priced at £16 and £11 respectively can be purchased between Monday and Friday by contacting the Ticket Office on 01773 830277 between 9am and 3.30pm or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Early Bird Match Tickets can also be purchased by calling into the administration office at the Impact Arena between 9am and 3.30pm each day. Early Bird Match Tickets ordered by visiting fans via the Ticket Office via telephone can be collected from the Alma Street turnstiles on the day of the match. No Early Bird Match Tickets are available on the day of the match.
Group Saver Match Tickets for adults and senior concessions require a total of five or more supporters per ticket in order to be eligible for purchase and to take advantage of these excellent rates, but these can be a mixture of adults at the lower price of £15 each and over-65's at just £10 each. The Group Saver Ticket is available from the ATFC administration office at the Impact Arena between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday, and the deadline for purchasing these is 3.30pm on the last working day prior to each home league fixture. No Group Saver Match Tickets are available on the day of the game.
