ALFRETON TOWN v TAMWORTH PREVIEW

ALFRETON TOWN v TAMWORTH PREVIEW

Wednesday Apr 10, 2013

THURSDAY, APRIL 11th, 7.45pm

Alfreton Town face another crucial Blue Square Bet Premier Division relegation six-pointer on Thursday evening when Tamworth are the visitors to the Impact Arena.

For what is a third straight home game in the space of six days, Reds manager Nicky Law has left-back Connor Franklin available again following a three-match suspension but he will be without both Anton Brown (hamstring) and Adam Quinn (achilles) who will both be out for the remainder of the campaign.

It is the Reds' penultimate home game of the season and Alfreton require three more points from their remaining three games to guarantee a third season of Conference Premier Division football and Law will be looking for his side to build on Tuesday night's fine 4-0 home win over Barrow.

Tonight's fixture is the first of two crucial relegation clashes for Tamworth in three days as they also travel to Lincoln City on Saturday.

The Lambs arrive in 16th place in the table, one place and three points behind Alfreton and with four games to play in the last ten days of the season. They are currently just two points above the relegation zone.

On their travels this season they have won six, drawn five and lost nine but they will be seeking a first away win in five games tonight, although they will be buoyed by a 2-1 home win over Forest Green Rovers last Saturday which ended a run of three games without a win.

Top scorer for Tamworth is Adam Cunnington who has hit 20 league goals so far - including both against Forest Green - and is second highest in the division, just one behind Mansfield Town's Matt Green.

The points were shared in a 1-1 draw in the first game of the season between the sides at The Lamb just over a month ago, Louie Soares' opener for the Reds on 29 minutes being cancelled out by Darren Byfield on 65.
