GAME ON AFTER PITCH INSPECTION

Alfreton Town will kick-off 2016 with a Vanarama National League home game against Tamworth this afternoon after the Impact Arena pitch passed an official inspection.

It will be a third meeting of the season between the sides but a first one in Derbyshire with the Reds having won both of the previous games, one in an FA Cup second qualifying round tie (3-2) and a 2-1 Boxing Day victory at The Lamb last week as Alfreton inflicted a first home league defeat of the campaign on the Staffordshire side.

Tamworth go into the game still in seventh place in the table despite losing their last three league games but they now find themselves six points outside of the play-off places.
Their fall from form has seen them win just three of their last eight league games and only two of their last eight league games away from home.

Nicky Law's Alfreton side will be buoyed by two hugely improved displays in their last two games, the win against Tamworth and a 2-2 home draw against then top-of-the-table Solihull Moors at the Impact Arena.

A Reds victory would extend the Reds' unbeaten run to three games and could lift the side up two or three places depending on other results.
