Alfreton Town v Stockport County

Alfreton Town v Stockport County

Sunday Dec 31, 2017

With no scheduled Vanarama National League North fixtures for the weekend, the Reds next game is the return match against Stockport County on New Years Day at the Impact Arena with a 3pm kick off.

Alfreton's narrow 1-0 defeat at Edgeley Park on Boxing Day saw the Reds drop to 19th place in the table, level on points with Nuneaton Town and Southport in the relegation places below them. We are therefore desperate to gain some points to take us away from the drop zone.

Stockport's win saw them move up to 9th place, two points outside the play-offs. The Hatters are unbeaten in their last three league games (W2, D1).

Our last home outing saw us beaten by Boston and was the Reds fifth straight home defeat in the league. Defeat to the Hatters on Boxing Day succumbed us to a seventh defeat in eight league games. Alfreton will once again desperately be looking to salvage form and start 2018 positively and recover a troublesome slide down the table.

Our first ever home meeting with the Hatters took place in our inaugural season in the Conference when we achieved an incredible 6-1 win at the Impact Arena in March 2012 before a crowd of 1,115.

Our scorers that day were Nathan Jarman with a hat-trick (2 pens), Paul Clayton, Anthony Wilson and Nathan Arnold.

The Alfreton Town team was: Jon Stewart, Josh Law, Connor Franklin, Theo Streete, Darran Kempson, Anton Brown, Jake Moult, Paul Clayton, Nathan Jarman, Nathan Arnold, Anthony Wilson.

Subs; Nicky Deverdics, Jamie Mullan, Dan Lawson

Please note Monday's game sees segregation in operation.
