Alfreton Town v Nuneaton Town

Alfreton Town v Nuneaton Town

Wednesday Mar 28, 2018

Alfreton Town play their second game in three days this coming Good Friday when Nuneaton Town are the visitors to the Impact Arena for a Vanarama National League North encounter, kick-off 3pm.

After Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at home to Kidderminster Harriers, the Reds will be looking to get back to winning ways and a chance to move further away from the relegation zone.

Two former Reds proved the difference on Tuesday night as Joe Ironside and Dan Bradley struck in the second half to end a battling display by the Reds. The first half was a well matched affair with Alfreton matching the full time Harriers side well and creating some dangerous openings.

But the second half saw us lose concentration in stages, more so after the first goal and that proved crucial as Kidderminster went on to grab the three points in a hard fought contest. The Reds will look back on the display with positivity after matching Kiddy for 60 odd minutes and will aim to respond and bounce back heading into tomorrow's game.

Defeat on Tuesday was our third straight defeat at home in the league and our second loss in the last three league games. The Reds head into tomorrow afternoons game with just one win in seven in the league but despite the setback on Tuesday, we will be looking for a second win in three games in terms of immediate form.

The visitors Nuneaton currently lie 13th in the National League North table. Their current playing record is Played 34, Won 12, Drawn 8, Lost 14, Points 44. Nuneaton currently have three more points than the Reds, but have played two games fewer.

Nuneaton's last National League North fixture was nearly two weeks ago, this was as a result of having two games postponed against York and Curzon due to International call ups. They went down 1-0 at at Leamington, where they fell to a 34th minute goal by Matt Dodd back on the 17th March.

The visitors have won four of their last five away games with their last away defeat coming at Leamington in their last fixture. The defeat to the Brakes was also Nuneaton's first in their last ten games with them last tasting defeat back on the 6th January at home to Brackley Town.

Nuneaton's team against the Brakes was: Etheridge, Wildin, Heaton, Elliott, Johnson, Langmead, Ferry, Beswick, Chambers, Green, Nti.

Subs: Daniels, Lyness, Dielan, Mitchell, Ashton.

They did play after Leamington three days later defeating a youthful Walsall side 2-0 in the quarter finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Popular manager Dino Maamria has recently left the cub to take over the reigns at League Two outfit Stevenage FC leaving Jon Ashton in temporary charge.

The teams last met at Liberty way back in September where a hard fought 2-2 draw was the outcome. The Red's goals coming from Chris Sharp after 11 minutes and a Craig Westcarr penalty on 52 minutes.

A reminder that all children who attend the game tomorrow recieve a FREE easter egg, there is also egg colouring competitions available!
