ALFRETON TOWN v LUTON TOWN PREVIEW

ALFRETON TOWN v LUTON TOWN PREVIEW

Thursday Dec 5, 2013

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th, 3pm

by Matt Carter

Alfreton Town are set for a stiff test this Saturday as they welcome Luton Town to the Impact Arena in the Skrill Premier.
The Hatters are flying high in second spot and can boast a run of 13 games without tasting defeat, nevertheless the Reds will hold no fear on their own patch - having lost just one of their opening ten home games. A run that has included taking points off the likes of Cambridge and Kidderminster - the two sides outside of Luton.
Alfreton will be keen to dispel the hurt of successive defeats against Nuneaton, firstly in the league and then in the FA Trophy, although their display in the second of those was much improved when compared against the first. Prior to those games they had lost just one in five and climbed into the unprecedented heights of the playoff spots.
A positive result on Saturday would potentially see Nicky Law's side return to those lofty positions and they will buoyed by the result of this very fixture last season - a game in which they clinched a famous 3-0 victory.
Striker Jonathan Hooper will be available to make his league debut for the club, but Nicky Law will be without the services of son Josh who damaged a thigh in the FA Trophy defeat.
Undoubtedly this will be one of the most challenging encounters Alfreton will have to face on home soil, yet their home form thus far suggests they have what it takes to put the double Nuneaton disappointment behind them and spring a surprise.
