Alfreton Town v Kidderminster Harriers
At the Impact Arena
by Tom Lawler and Kev Miles
ALFRETON Town turn their attention back to the Blue Square Bet Premier this weekend as they host promotion hopefuls Kidderminster Harriers at the Impact Arena.
The Reds spirits are high at present after their 6-0 romp at Southern League Premier Division side Weymouth in the FA Trophy second round last weekend.
The Harriers also go into this game on a high after a convincing 5-1 win over Conference North side Droylsden in the FA Trophy.
Reds manager Nicky Law will still be missing goalkeeper Joe Day heading into this fixture, who is still out with a groin injury, whilst Adam Quinn faces a late fitness test on a calf strain.
Law is also expected to give Louis Moult his first appearance for the Reds at the Impact Arena after hugely impressing in last weekend's debut at Weymouth where he also netted his first goal for the club.
Alfreton Town will go into this game looking to bounce back from their last home game which ended in a 5-2 defeat to Grimsby Town. The Reds have taken eight points from a possible 18 and a win against the Harriers could see them lift out of the relegation-zone.
In contrast Kidderminster are currently sixth in the Conference Premier, with only goal difference separating them from being in the all-important play-off places.
Steve Burr's side have been in good form recently picking up 13 points from the last 18, although he will be looking for a quick response from his players after losing 2-1 to Gateshead in their last league fixture.
The Harriers have a good away record in the league this season with seven wins, two draws and five defeats, scoring 24 and conceding 22.
Victories have been recorded at Lincoln City (1-0), Cambridge United (2-10, Newport County (3-1), Mansfield Town (3-0), Kettering Town (1-0), York City (3-2) and Hayes & Yeading (3-1).
The points were shared Ebbsfleet United (3-3) and Forest Green Rovers (1-1).
Losses have been tasted at Wrexham (0-2), Fleetwood Town (2-5), Darlington (0-1), Barrow (1-3) and Gateshead (1-2).
This is only the second time the Reds have played the Harriers with the first meeting between the two sides back on September 17 which finished 3-1 to Kidderminster.
Drewe Broughton put Alfreton ahead from the penalty spot before Marc Williams, Steven Guinan and a late goal from James Vincent gave Kidderminster all three points on a day when they celebrated their 125th anniversary.
The top scorers in the league for the Harriers so far this season are Jamille Matt and Nick Wright who both have nine each.
