ALFRETON TOWN v FC HALIFAX TOWN PREVIEW
Friday Nov 1, 2013
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd, 3pm
by Matt Carter
Alfreton Town will be hopeful of maintaining their recent good form when they welcome FC Halifax Town to the Impact Arena for Saturday's Skrill Conference Premier contest.
After a mini slump which saw them lose four in five games, the Reds have now won their last two games - overcoming a difficult trip to North Ferriby United in the FA Cup last Saturday and prior to that clinching an impressive 3-2 win at Aldershot Town.
That recent revival is in no small part down to Alfreton's injury crisis easing up significantly with Paul Clayton now the only player on the treatment table, a far cry from the severe situation of a few weeks ago.
Saturday's game is likely to be a competitive affair, with Halifax currently only shading Alfreton on goal difference in the Conference Premier table. Halifax themselves will be entering the contest in high spirits, having gone unbeaten in their last three games, a run which includes a comprehensive win over Welling last time out.
Further to that they won 2-0 in the FA Cup at Nuneaton Town last Saturday and also possess one of the league's most feared strikers in the shape of Lee Gregory, who having scored three in that Welling victory is clearly at the top of his game.
There is no recent history between the sides, given that Halifax were promoted from The Conference North last season via the Play-offs, although the Reds did beat the West Yorkshire side 6-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Impact Arena just after Halifax had been reformed.
The Shaymen are without a win on the road this season whilst Alfreton can boast an impressive home record of six wins in their eight games to date, a statistic which offers real reason to be positive. Having hopefully come through their recent sticky period, the Reds will be looking to kick back into the upper reaches of the table, a position that they were enjoying in the early months of the season.
Segregation is in place for this fixture and visiting fans are kindly requested to enter the stadium via the Alma Street turnstiles only. Covered terracing and seating areas are available for visiting fans, as well as match day programmes, catering and toilet facilities.
