ALFRETON TOWN v CAMBRIDGE UNITED PREVIEW

Friday Mar 23, 2012

SATURDAY, MARCH 24th, 2012, 3pm

Saturday, March 24th, 2012
Blue Square Bet Premier Division
Alfreton Town v Cambridge United
at The Impact Arena
Kick-off: 3pm

ALFRETON Town will be looking to return to winning ways when they entertain Cambridge United in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action at the Impact Arena on Saturday.
Reds boss Nicky Law is still without the injured Adam Quinn but Seamus Conneely is set to return after missing the midweek game against Mansfield Town through illness. Latest loan signing, Daniel Meadows from Nottingham Forest, is also added to the squad.
A win could put the Reds eight points clear of the relegation places and within touching distance of securing their Conference Premier Division status for a second season.
It is a first away game after three home fixtures for Cambridge and they will also be looking to get back to winning ways having picked up just one point from their last two games.
The first game between the sides this season saw a comfortable 3-0 win for United at the R Costings Abbey Stadium way back on October 15. In front of 2,741 an opening goal from Luke Berry on 29 minutes was added to by a brace from Harrison Dunk on 41 and 52 minutes.
Even a win on Saturday would not improve Cambridge's tenth-place position in the table but they could drop a couple of places if they are defeated.
United's last outing was on Tuesday evening when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by relegation-fighting Newport County who equalised a 21st minute Josh Dawkin goal with an 86th minute penalty from Andy Sandell.
The Cambridge United side was: Naisbitt, Roberts, Jennings, McAuley, Wylde, Thorpe (Jackson 72), Dawkin, Jarvis, Berry, Pugh, Gash (Tiryaki 76). Subs not used: Hughes, Hudson and Eades.
United manager Jez George has strengthened his squad this week by signing former Northampton Town left back Ashley Corker and Hereford United midfielder Harry Pell on loan.
