ALFRETON TOWN v BARNET MATCH PREVIEW
Friday Mar 27, 2015
SATURDAY, MARCH 28th, 3pm
By James Aspinall
Alfreton Town welcome table toppers Barnet to the Impact Arena in their latest Vanarama Conference fixture this Saturday.
Reds manager Nicky Law has no new injury worries and has plenty of options having brought in left-sided winger Jimmy Phillips from Burton Albion on loan until the end of the season.
The Reds have hit form recently as the season draws to a close, going unbeaten in six games to try and keep their Vanarama Conference status and with six games left, they have a gap of five points between themselves and the relegation zone.
Barnet have had a strong season, with their determination showing to regain their league status just two seasons after relegation from the Football League in 2012/13.
The Bees have taken 78 points from 40 games; leaving them a point clear at the top with just six games remaining.
Alfreton have been very tight in defence recently, conceding just a single goal in their last six games. This will give the Reds confidence going into the game, as they seek a result which would boost their survival chances.
A win for Alfreton could see them extend the gap between them and the relegation zone to eight points with five games remaining, whereas a loss could see the gap closed to just two points.
Barnet will be confident as not only are they top of the league, but have been scoring for fun in recent games.
In their last six games, they have scored 13 goals including a 5-0 home win against strugglers Welling United last time out.

Alfreton 6 3 3 0 12/18
Barnet 6 3 1 2 10/18
In the previous fixture between these two teams back in September, Barnet edged the result 2-1, thanks to an injury to winner from Luisma Villa. Nicky Law's men had led in that game, but Lathaniel Rowe-Turner got sent off for a foul on John Akinde in the penalty area, allowing Barnet back into the game.
Alfreton: Hawley (9), Shaw (7), Wood (5)
Barnet: Akinde (30), Villa Lopez (12), Cook (8)
The former Alfreton man Akinde has been hugely influential on Barnet's season, scoring 30 goals out of their total of 85 for the season so far, eleven of them coming from the penalty spot.
