Having slipped out of the play-off spots for the first time since mid-December over the past week, Alfreton will be pushing to reclaim their place in the top five when Aldershot Town visit the Impact Arena on Tuesday night.
The Reds will be looking to channel the disappointment of a controversial stoppage time goal being ruled out that appeared to have crossed the line in the 2-2 home draw against Welling United.
The visitors, docked ten points at the start of the season are locked in a battle at the other end of the table and currently sit a point shy of safety in the relegation places.
Despite that precarious position Shots produced an admirable performance on Saturday only going down to champions in waiting Luton by a single late goal, a display which highlights this will be no straight forward task for Alfreton.
In spite of that showing Aldershot have won only one of seven and that came against already relegated Hyde.
The Reds have already witnessed what a difficult side Aldershot can be to shake off, having seen Tuesday’s visitors twice draw level in the reverse fixture before Alfreton eventually prevailed 3-2.
With just five games left to play Nicky Law’s side are losing momentum at the worst possible time and they will be determined to force a first win in three games on Tuesday night to get back on track.
With three of those five games at home the play-off dream is still very much alive, although a win over Aldershot looks essential.
Both John McGrath and Michael Wylde who remain long term absentees will be missing and another long-term injury victim, Chris Westwood is also still on the recovery road.
After looking lively from the bench against Welling Danny Meadows will be pushing for a starting place in this pivotal Skrill Premier clash.

There is no segregation in place for this fixture but Aldershot Town fans are kindly requested to enter the stadium via the Alma Street turnstiles. Catering and toilet facilities as well as match day programmes are available at both ends of the ground.
