Alfreton Town v AFC Telford United

Alfreton Town v AFC Telford United

Monday Mar 19, 2018

Tomorrow night, weather permitting, sees the Reds take on AFC Telford United in a re-arranged match in the Vanarama National League North at the Impact Arena kick-off 7.45pm.

The Reds are back at the Impact after three weeks away with our last fixture at home being the Derbyshire Senior Cup semi final against Ilkeston Town. The fixture against Kidderminster on Saturday was postponed due to heavy rainfall overnight and we hope to make a long awaited return home tomorrow night.

Alfreton head into tomorrow's game off the back of our last game ten days ago, a 3-3 thriller away at Bradford Park Avenue. The Reds soaked up huge amounts of pressure throughout the game but clincal finishing saw us come from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 at the break. Bradford levelled early on in the second half before we regained the lead through Brendon Daniels, only to be pegged back again two minutes from time.

We have only lost once in our last five outings at home in all competitions and once in the last four in the league at home, the defeat being to Salford City (2-3) in mid February. We will be looking to get back to winning ways however after back to back draws in the league and kick on away from the drop zone.

Telford currently lie in the relegation zone sitting 20th in the table, having gained 34 points from 31 games.

The Bucks are below us in the table but currently have two games in hand with our point cushion currently lying at four points. A win over the Bucks could be huge in our race to beat the drop and Telford arrive tomorrow evening looking to claim a massive three points in their own push to prevent relegation.

Telford have only managed to play the one fixture in March so far, our inital fixture on the 3rd March was postponed before postponments followed on the 10th March against Spennymoor before the Bucks then lost at in form Southport 3-0 last Tuesday night. Their game at Bradford Park Avenue at the weekend was also postponed.

The Bucks have lost the last two league games they have played and have won just the once in their last five league outings. The Bucks are win-less in their last eight away league games (L6, D2) with their last away win coming at North Ferriby on 21st October.

We will be looking to do the double after goals from Craig Westcarr and Tom Allan gave us a 2-1 win at the New Bucks Head back in November.
