The Reds fell behind after just seven minutes when Richard Peniket put the visitors in front. However, two goals in the space of four minutes just before half-time saw Alfreton leading at the interval as a Shaun Harrad penalty on 41 minutes was added to by Tom Shaw who bundled the ball home on 45.

Tamworth drew level on 67 minutes when Matt Godden netted from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by Darran Kempson.

Alfreton again showed their character and after Job Ayo Akinde had put them 3-2 up on 73 minutes, substitute Paul Clayton sealed a thirteenth home win of the season ten minutes later with the fourth.

The Reds are now without a game until Monday, March 24th when they travel to take on seventh-placed FC Halifax Town. Kick-off is 7.45pm and the game is being televised live on BT Sports.

ATFC Supporters' Association transport to the Halifax game departs at 5.15pm and and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401
