Alfreton recorded a fine win over AFC Telford United, following on from the point gained at the New Bucks Head on Boxing Day. In an exciting and eventful game the Reds found themselves 3-1 up at he break. Mark Shelton opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a composed finish. Craig Westcarr doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after 34 minutes. This was followed by a penalty at the other end given for a push on Telford's John-Paul Kissock. The spot kick was converted by Josh Wilson.
The Red's restored their two goal advantage two minutes before the break when Paul Marshall expertly finished a fine move begun by Andy Monkhouse.
The Second half saw the visitors fail to reduce the arrears when Josh Wilson fired his second spot kick wide. There was still time left for John-Paul Kissock to make it 3-2 with one minute left on the clock. The referee played what seemed to be a never ending amount of added on time during which the Red's keeper Ross Etheridge pulled off a fantastic double save to ensure the Reds took all three points and moving up to 16th in the table leap frogging their opponents in the process. The visitors had Ben Bailey dismissed for two yellow cards in the final moments of the game.
The Reds are next in National League North action this coming Saturday, January the 7th when they visit the Wetherby Road home of Harrogate Town Kick Off 3pm.
The Supporters Association will be running transport which leaves the Impact Arena at 9-30 am.
