Alfreton forced a creditable draw with a last gasp leveller against Nuneaton Town at the Impact Arena in their final Vanarama National League North match of the season on Saturday.

Despite there being little at stake for either side they produced a thrilling encounter with the Red's Liam Hearn completing a hat-trick with his lale equaliser. He opened the scoring for the Reds after 19 minutes, chesting a through ball from Craig Westcarr down before slotting past visiting keeper Elliott Taylor.

Former Red, Brad Gascoigne headed home an equaliser on 26 minutes before an Ash Chambers rocket shot, put Nuneaton ahead ten minutes later.

Hearn scored his second to equalise ten minutes into the second half before Chambers grabbed his second goal of the game to put the visitors ahead on 68 minutes. Nuneaton missed a great chance to seal the result in the 84th minute after Mills was brought down on the bye-line but Wright made a superb save fron the resultant penalty taken by Tom Elliott.

In the last minute of the game a powerful drive from Craig Westcarr was parried by Taylor, but Hearn was on hand to level the scores for the final time and complete his hat-trick.
