REDS EASE THROUGH TO QUARTER FINALS

Alfreton Town eased into the Derbyshire Senior Cup quarter finals after a 3-1 home win over Whaley Bridge Athletic at The Impact Arena on Tuesday evening.

The Reds scored through Jamie Jackson on 28 minutes to lead 1-0 at half-time and after the break, Joe Ironside (pictured celebrating scoring courtesy of Bill Wheatcroft) added a second before Will Bailey pulled one back for Athletic on 61 minutes.

However, a third goal for the Reds from Sam Jones on 74 minutes ensured Alfreton's place in the last eight of the competition despite having a late Jordan Robertson penalty saved.
