Alfreton  Town manager Nicky Law's 51st birthday will taste all the sweeter after seeing his side destroy Luton Town's 100 per cent away record with a magnificent display.

It was a first home win of the season, a first clean sheet, and the first time Law's side have recorded back-to-back wins this season. They totally deserved it.

In front of 1,392 the Reds were ahead inside two minutes when Nathan Arnold was allowed acres of space to advance along the right byline before his  low cross was clipped inside the far post from six yards out by Anthony Wilson for his second goal in successive games.

The second goal came on 23 minutes when Arnold was felled in the penalty area by Dean Beckwith and Dan Bradley smacked home the spot kick for his first ever goal for the club to make it 2-0.

The damage could have been worse as Arnold twice went close, one shot fizzing across the face of goal, the second coming back off the base of the far post.

Sparked by a triple substitution, Luton enjoyed a ten-minute spell of possessional and territorial domination at the start of the second half but they rarely made home keeper Jon Stewart work.

The victory was assured on 66 minutes when from Dan Bradley's through ball for Anthony Wilson, visiting keeper Mark Tyler misjudged his rush out of goal and challenge and Wilson walked the ball around him before steeering home from 12 yards into an empty net for his second of the game and 3-0.

Luton had more possession in the second half but found the Reds defence in defiant mood. All in all, a truly outstanding display by everyone.

Alfreton are back in action next Saturday when they travel to take on Forest Green Rovers who lost their top spot in the division after a 1-0 defeat at Grimsby Town.
