Alfreton Town produced a stunning fight-back from two goals down to snatch victory with a late, late winner against a good Gateshead side at the Impact Arena on Saturday.
With just 14 minutes left, Alfreton trailed 2-0 but they scored twice in two minutes on 76 and 78 minutes through Ben Tomlinson and Steven Hewitt's first goal for the club to draw level.
The visitors had Liam Hatch sent off a minute into added time for violent conduct and four minutes later, Reds substitute Scott Boden (pictured) sealed a remarkable come-back when he smashed home a close range volley into the roof of the net.
Gateshead had gone into half-time two goals up after an Anton Brown own goal on 20 minutes and a controversial Josh Gillies penalty on 39 minutes after Jordan Rose was adjudged by referee Mr Bull to have fouled Ryan Donaldson when it looked for all the world like he had won the ball fairly with a well-timed challenge.
The victory lifted Alfreton up to 13th in the table and extended their unbeaten run to five games. It was also a third straight home win. The defeat was a first in four games for Gateshead.
