ALFRETON TOWN 3, AFC TELFORD UNITED 2

Tuesday Sep 16, 2014

Alfreton Town continued their resurgence with a first Vanarama Conference home win of the season on Tuesday evening, the Reds seeing off AFC Telford United 3-2 at the Impact Arena to make it seven points from nine in the past week.

Reds boss Nicky Law handed a debut on the left side of midfield to latest signing David Mellor who has joined the club on a month's loan from Oldham Athletic.

Andi Thanoj's first goal for the club on 11 minutes put Alfreton ahead but the lead was short-lived as Tony Gray equalised for the Bucks on 17.

Two minutes later however, Tom Shaw fired home his first goal of the season to restore the lead before Joe Ironside netted for the third game running to put the Reds 3-1 up at the interval.

Telford came more into it in the second half and reduced the arrears through Neill Byrne's header on 71 minutes but Alfreton held out for their first home win of the campaign and it is a result which leaves Telford still searching for their first victory of the season.
