REDS HOPES REST ON LAST DAY OF SEASON

Alfreton Town's Vanarama Conference survival hopes will go right to the wire after the Reds were held to a 2-2 draw at the Impact Arena by relegation rivals Welling United who played the last 76 minutes with ten men.

The 'Pay what you want' admission scheme for the day drew a crowd of 1,593 and Nicky Law's side got the start they wanted when they went in front on 16 minutes, Dan Bradley netting from the penalty spot for a hand-ball offence by United's Harry Osbourne which earned him a red card.

The visitors equalised on 45 minutes when Ross Lafayette fired home and Welling then went in front on 57 minutes as Chris Bush netted from six yards.

Alfreton equalised on 70 minutes as substitute Massiah McDonald found the target just two minutes after coming on.

However, the Reds could not find a winner and must now travel to title-chasing Bristol Rovers on the last day of the season needing a win which may still not be enough as Welling United entertain already safe Southport.
