ALFRETON TOWN 2, NUNEATON TOWN 2
Saturday Jan 30, 2016
Alfreton Town extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions after twice coming from behind to earn a point from a 2-2 draw against Nuneaton Town at the Impact Arena.
In a game full of controversy, the Reds had shouts for three penalties denied and they fell behind to a bizarre decision from the match official who awarded Nuneaton a penalty for what was no more than a 50-50 challenge by Todd Jordan on Shane Byrne.
Goalkeeper Matt Duke saved the spot kick from Marlon Harewood but was beaten by the latter's follow up shot on 48 minutes.
Sam Jones equalised for Alfreton on 56 minutes when he created half-a-yard of space in the area and rifled home an angled drive.
The visitors went back in front on 75 minutes when a foul on Tom Allan went unpuniushed and Elliott Whitehouse steered home from ten yards.
Alfreton put heavy pressure on the visiting goal and equalised again on 79 minutes when Reds man of the match Jones (pictured by Dave Pursglove) grabbed his second goal of the game as he finished a Dan Bradley cross.
