Alfreton Town's Vanarama Conference survival bid gained more momentum after a deserved 2-0 home win over mid-table Kidderminster Harriers at the Impact Arena on Saturday.

The goals came from John Johnston on 12 minutes and Karl Hawley on 70 and the final margin of victory could have been higher as the Reds carved out late chances.

Victory lifted Alfreton four points clear of the relegation drop zone and means the Reds have recorded back-to-back wins with clean sheets for the first time this season.

The one low point of the day was a knee injury suffered by Bradley Wood. The defender will be undergoing a scan to find out the extent of the damage.
