REDS HELD FOR THIRD GAME IN A ROW

Alfreton Town were held to a draw for the third successive game and a fourth in their opening five Vanarama National League North games as Curzon Ashton escaped the Impact Arena with a 2-2 draw.

Nicky Law's side dominated both halves and had what looked a stonewall penalty decision denied them deep into injury time but they had to settle for a single point again as chances went begging in both halves.

Sam Jones's first league goal for the club deservedly put the Reds in front on 16 minutes before two goals on in ten minutes midway through the first half swung things Curzon's way.
Matthew Warburton fired home from twelve yards to punish defensive hesitancy on 26 minutes and Ryan Brooke steered home a loose ball after a fantastic close range save from Matt Duke ten minutes later.

In a second half played out in bizarre weather conditions including hail, lightening and torrential rain, Alfreton finally got back on level terms when Joe Leesley also registered his first league goal for the club by smashing home a tremendous shot from 25 yards.

Well into stoppage time, Curzon keeper Hakan Burton clearly clattered into substitute Reds striker Sam Smith deep in the penalty area but the referee thought otherwise.
