Alfreton Town slipped to a 3-2 Vanarama Conference home defeat against relegation rivals Aldershot Town on Saturday with both teams having a man sent off.

The Reds got off to a great start with a superb fourth minute volleyed goal from John Johnston but after Niall Heaton was sent off for a professional foul, two goals in the space of a minute on 39 and 40 put Aldershot ahead by the interval as Sam Hatton thumped home from the penalty spot and substitute Brett Williams netted seconds after coming on.

Alfreton fell further behind on 50 minutes when a defensive mix-up allowed Hatton to net his second of the game.

Karl Hawley reduced the arrears on 53 minutes with a superb low shot into the far corner but despite a strong finish and the visitors having substitute Josh Scott sent off on 86 minutes for violent conduct, Alfreton could not find an equaliser.
