LATE, LATE GOAL DENIES REDS VICTORY
A goal in the fourth minute of added time by full-back Sean Newton denied Alfreton Town a deserved victory over Lincoln City who emerged with a point from a 1-1 draw at the Impact Arena.
Nicky Law's side had all the clearer chances and a penalty appeal turned down. Shaun Harrad was denied on several occasions and a Connor Franklin header coming back off the far post before the Reds took the lead on 61 minutes.
A tremendous cross-field pass from Dan Bradley set Harrad up on the edge of the penalty area and he advanced to rifle home his second goal for the club.
Alfreton continued to dominate the second half and were denied further goals by more saves from City keeper Nick Townsend.
The Imps saved all their best efforts for the last few minutes and Jon Worsnop twice saved well before his punch clear fell to the feet of Sean Newton who smacked home a low 15-yard volley through a ruck of players to deny the Reds the win.
The point gained lifted the Reds back into third place in the table.
The attendance was 1,331 which included 640 from Lincolnshire.
