LATE GOAL DENIES REDS VICTORY
Alfreton Town had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at home against Chester after being denied victory by an 88th minute headed equaliser by Ben Heneghan.
The goal was a first conceded by Nicky Law's side in 488 minutes of Vanarama Conference football but the draw extended Alfreton's unbeaten run to five games and pushes them five points clear of the relegation zone with seven games to go.
In front of 857, the Reds went in front in spectacular fashion on 22 minutes when Tom Shaw (pictured) smashed in an unstoppable 35 yard shot into the top left corner, his shot beating former Reds keeper Jon Worsnop all ends up.
Latest signing Jake Speight twice went close, being denied in a one-on-one by a fine save by Worsnop in the second half but the visitors kept going right to the end and grabbed a leveller when substitute Sean McConville's cross was headed in by Heneghan.
