Read our report from Tuesday night's battling defeat to Kidderminster

Alfreton Town put in a battling performance against fourth placed Kidderminster Harriers in Tuesday night's National League North game at the lmpact Arena, but could not prevent two former players from scoring the goals that separated the teams.

Joe Ironside stabbed the ball past Viktor Johansson in the 56th minute from close range off a driven cross by Emmanuel Sonupe, and 15 minutes later Dan Bradley swept down the left flank before cutting in to unleash a low drive destined for the far corner of the net.

Up to that point the Reds had matched their full-time opponents in every aspect and certainly atoned for their previous home defeat to AFC Telford United seven days earlier, which had been poor to say the least, although not quite living up to the expectancy created by Saturday's victory at Southport.

Both Brendon Daniels and Craig Disley had shots blocked in the 16th minute following Craig Westcarr's astute pull-back, then 17 minutes later Jennings forced visiting keeper Brandon Hall into a superb save following a fluent move involving Westcarr, Daniels and Disley, with Jennings going on to see another good strike diverted behind for a corner just before the break.

Kidderminster had looked quite sharp themselves during the course of the first half, yet their best chance had come from a swift break after Daniels' 37th minute free-kick had been saved by Hall, Vaughan sprinting clear on the overlap to go perilously close.

lt was more difficult for Alfreton to push forward after the interval, Westcarr just unable to make contact with an inviting through-ball from Tom Allan on 61 minutes, then five minutes later Disley's header was held by the keeper from a deep Lee Beevers free-kick.

Kidderminster's clearest chance between the goals had seen Ironside sent through by Fraser Horsfall in the 70th minute, but Johansson was equal to the task and saved competently.
