ALFRETON TOWN 0, PORT VALE XI 2

ALFRETON TOWN 0, PORT VALE XI 2

Saturday Jul 27, 2013

Alfreton Town put in their best display of the pre-season so far and could count themselves somewhat unlucky to have suffered a 2-0 defeat at home against League One visitors Port Vale on Saturday.

The Reds were only undone by an 11th minute header from Chris Robertson to finish a free kick and an 86th minute cross from Lee Hughes which somewhat fortuitously found the far top corner of the net.

In between, Nicky Law's side defended well, produced some excellent passing football and with former Macclesfield Town striker Matthew Barnes-Homer making a surprise appearance, created plenty of chances, particularly in the first half.

Alfreton are back in action  next Friday evening when they make the trip to take on Northern Counties (East) League Premier Division side Worksop Parramore.
