ALFRETON Town went down to a third successive home defeat with Chib Chilaka's 18th minute close range goal sending the points back to Essex with Braintree Town who edged the battle of the champions.
In a game marred by a strong, blustery wind, chances and quality football were at a premium.
The attendance was 656 (36 from Braintree) and Alfreton's man of the match was Leigh Franks.
Match report to follow.

The Reds now have a week off before a trip to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, September 17th.

ALFRETON Town return to the Impact Arena on Saturday with a home game against last season's Blue Square Bet South champions Braintree Town.
As the Reds go in search of a first home win of the season, manager Nicky Law adds latest signing, striker Drewe Broughton to his squad.
He will have plenty of selection decisions to make with Broughton being the fifth signing in a fortnight, the others being Steve Brogan, Andy Holdsworth, Nik Kudiersky and Burton Albion striker James Ellison on loan.
However, Law is without strike trio Paul Clayton (groin), Nathan Arnold (broken metatarsal), Anthony Wilson (broken metatarsal) and midfield player Anton Brown (hip flexor).
Josh Law will need a late check on a groin injury picked up two weeks ago.
Braintree are managed by Alan Devonshire and come into the game in good nick after a 1-0 home win over Lincoln City last weekend.
The Essex club have had a good start to the campaign and arrive in 11th place in the table with ten points from seven games played so far.
Braintree town's results so far are:
13 Darlington, away, lost 1-0
16 Grimsby Town, home, won 5-0
20 Mansfield Town, home, drew 1-1
23 Forest Green Rovers, away, won 2-0
27 Luton Town, away, lost 3-1
29 Ebbsfleet United, home, lost 3-2
3 Lincoln City, home, won 1-0

It will be a first ever game against Braintree Town and kick-off at the Impact Arena is 3pm.
