The Reds led three times, firstly through Tom Shaw's (pictured) 23rd minute opener which was cancelled out by a goal from Jaydon Gibbs for the Shots just five minutes later.
Josh Law netted from very close range on 31 minutes to put Alfreton 2-1 up at half-time but just two minutes after the interval the hosts were level again when Brett Williams equalised for a second time.
What proved to be the winner for the Reds came courtesy of Jake Speight's first goal for the club on 56 minutes.
Job Ayo Akinde was the Reds man-of-the-match and the attendance was 1,732 including 47 from Alfreton.
The Reds have no midweek game before they travel to North Ferriby United to contest an FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie.
Ferriby were knocked off of joint top spot in the Skrill North on Saturday and now lie third after having former Reds striker Nathan Jarman sent off for two cautionable offences in a 2-0 defeat at AFC Telford United.
ATFC Supporters' Association transport will depart at 10am and seats can be booked via Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
