The Ripley and Heanor News reports that: 'MR ALFRETON Town' Tom McRoy has seen it all during his time with the club, from the lowest of the lows to the club sealing the Blue Square Bet North title.
The 91-year-old has held almost every single post at Alfreton since it was re-formed in 1959 and he is absolutely delighted with the achievement of reaching the highest level of football the club have ever competed at.
He said: "It ranks with the best, certainly with the time we went to Barrow [in the FA Cup first round replay back in 1969 when Barrow were then in the old third division of the Football League] which was a momentous day.
"This has been a tremendous season. To think how many matches we have had to play, these boys have done tremendously well and their exploits rank right at the very top. Thanks to them we will now be playing at the very top of the non league tree, and we will now be competing against some very big clubs.
"It has been a big job for these boys, especially the manager who ranks very high on my list and goes along with Jack Detchon who was one of the makers of Alfreton Town Football Club.
"We have had some very good managers down the years and Nicky Law has firmly written himself into the record books."
Tom also had special praise for chairman Wayne Bradley who has masterminded the club's rise to the top level since taking over 14 years ago.
He added: "When we started 52 years ago there were around 30 members on the committee and they all had their own jobs to do. The ground was nothing more than a tip, and to see the ground as it is today, up to top class condition, is testament to the efforts of Wayne Bradley.
"Considering what Wayne took on, it has been a tremendous job and I would like to thank him for what is a marvellous achievement in revitalising Alfreton Town FC.
"I want to thank him on behalf of everybody at the club. Thankyou for making my day".
