Alfreton Town's Academy side have played two games this week.

The first game on Monday evening saw us take on Long Eaton United Under 19's at the Impact Arena in the Central Conference League. The Reds won 2-1 with goals from Harvey Grice and Morgan Brough. First team member Marcus Marshall got in some valuable game time.

On Thursday evening we visited South Yorkshire for a game against Swallownest MW in the Worksop Van Hire Youth League. On a heavy surface that cut up easily, playing our passing game proved to be difficult but we still went in at the break 1-0 to the good due to a long range strike from Harvey Grice that slipped through the hands of the Swallownest keeper.

The home side equalised straight after half time. This seemed to spur Alfreton on and they proceeded to play with much more purpose and pace resulting in a close range goal from Ellis Evans and a well taken effort from George Layton to put us 3-1 ahead. Swallownest got a goal back with five minutes remaining but the Reds held on to take all three points with a 3-2 win.

The Reds are now second in the Central Conference League and 4th in the Worksop Van Hire League with two games in hand.

The Academy's next game is on Wednesday 10th January in the Worksop Van Hire League away at the leaders Sheffield United.

More details will follow regarding the venue and kick-off time.
